Juniper Certification Tracks

Juniper Systems  certification track may be broadly divided into 4 levels. These are Associate, Specialist, Professional, and Expert levels. The technical areas are divided into 3 sections. These are Enterprise - Routing and Switching, Junos Security, and Service Provider - Routing and Switching. The following are the available certification tracks in detail:

The various abbreviations are

JNCIA: Juniper Networks Certified Internet Associate
JNCIS: Juniper Networks Certified Internet Specialist
JNCIP: Juniper Networks Certified Internet Professional
JNICE: Juniper Networks Certified Internet Expert

JNCIA: Passing JNCIA certification ensures that you have basic knowledge of how subnets work, Juniper routers and switches, and configuring Juniper networks in small network environment. It is entry level certification and required for all other advanced tracks as the foundation exam.

JNCIS: The JNCIS builds on JNCIA, and requires greater understanding of Internet routing and switching technologies. The exam objectives cover several product specific details and it prepares the candidate to be able to provide professional services on Juniper networks. JNCIS exam is a essential requirement for attempting the JNCIP-level exam.

The streams that are available for JNCIS are: 
JNCIS-ENT             Enterprise
JNCIS-SEC              Security
JNCIS-SP                 Service Provider

Among the streams above, Security JNCIS (SEC) is considered a little tough, and requires knowledge about securing various networking devices, both theory and practice.

JNCIP: The JNCP exam is the next level, and regarded highly by the industry. You will be able to configure and troubleshoot common networking scenarios using Juniper networking devices, such as routers, switches, and hubs. JNCIP exam is necessary for attempting the JNCIE-level lab exam.

JNCIE: The JNCIE certification is the most valuable of the Juniper track of exams. As the name implies, it is expert level cert, where you need to attend a lab exam. JNCIE candidate is expected to offer solutions to complex networking problems using Juniper networking devices in enterprise environment.
